Should you go to Odaiba, there is one place that you cannot miss.

Yes, the place is called Daiba Icchome Shotengai (台場一丁目商店街) which literally means 1st Street Daiba Shopping Street. Daiba Icchome Shotengai is located on the 4th floor of Decks shopping mall.

To get reach this place, you will have to pass by Tokyo Joypolis, an indoor theme park. Once you reach the 4th floor, you will feel as if you have been transported to the Showa Era of Japan.

Daiba Icchome Shotengai is created with Showa 30s in mind, which is actually from 1955-1964.
Never mind the era, but you can hear songs played that are sung by the famous idols in the 1980s such as Matsuda Seiko, Checkers, Nakamori Akina, to name a few.

The first shop itself will make you feel nostalgic with lots of old game machines that you can actually still play! And the walls are practically covered with photos of idols from the Showa Era.

As one stroll deeper inside, one can see many interesting shops.

There is one shop that only specializes in Lucky boxes, where you pay money to choose a box (out of many boxes) that may make you win a price. There is also a shop that sells old records, figurines and character goods. An interesting mention would be a Showa Era Haunted House, right in the middle of this Shotengai. There is also a Station area with a Shinkansen and replicated Showa Era Living room.

This men’s toilet has installed a high technology feature. When you do your small business, you are supposed to aim at the target set and on the monitor screen, it automatically starts a game. This game is supposed to measure how much urine you have released, and the more you let go, the higher chance for you to win the game.
