Little Koban we can find next to Kaminarimon in Asakusa, Tokyo.

In almost all the towns of Japan, usually near the stations where they exist, we can find a koban (交番, police booth) that are not police stations but a neighborhood police. They are responsible to resolve daily incidents, such as giving information to tourists, lost & found item inquiries, care for lost children or drunk people at night to avoid disturb the tranquility…

Koban buildings are small, usually one or two floors, with a gold star indicating that it is the police and some red lights always appear. There are usually a couple of cops who are often highly regarded by local residents.
